The Right Services
The right people. The right equipment. The right technology. These proven qualities, in combination, enable Allied Automotive Group to offer a full range of vehicle transportation services. Services that we can - and do - tailor to meet the specific needs and to add specific value to a clients operation.
To restate the basics: Serving both the new and secondary markets, AAG moves vehicles from assembly plants, railheads, ports of entry, automobile auctions, and rental and leasing companies to dealerships (and other destination points) throughout the United States and Canada.
The Right People
Yes, Allied Automotive Group has grown in every way imaginable from geographic scope to revenue level. However, and we are quite serious about this, there is one element of our heritage and our success that we are absolutely committed to maintaining. The fact is, we are a company that was founded on, and continues to operate around, a fundamental respect for the individual.
There is a strong connection between our companys "human touch" and our customers solid assurance that AAG has the right people to do the job the right way. To put it simply, the genuine care and concern we show our employees is the same genuine care and concern we expect them to give the vehicles we transport. And, bottom line, thats good business for everyone involved.
Forming the core of this caring culture is our unique Chaplaincy Program, a non-denominational, counseling-oriented service for employees and their families. The program is provided at all terminal locations and the corporate office.
Also, fully realizing that AAG employees are a direct and last contact between our customers and their customers, we focus a significant amount of time and effort in training personnel to meet each customers specific expectations.
In addition, AAG has an exacting truck maintenance program and a concentrated safety awareness program for all drivers. As part of our decision to adopt the performance management technique - an approach that centers around positive reinforcement - we also sponsor award programs for drivers who establish outstanding records of safety, quality of delivery, and customer service.
Are there tangible outcomes of our "we care" attitude? Many. But here are two of the most important examples: One: Our very first customer, more than six decades ago, is still a major customer and Two: AAGs driver turnover of less than 10 percent contrasts dramatically with the trucking industrys traditional turnover of 100 percent or more.
The Right Equipment
It is apparent, looking back through our history, why AAG has earned such a sterling reputation for self-engineering the finest and most innovative equipment on the road. We always have and always will invest the skill, the experience and the capital to maintain a task-oriented fleet that is geared to moving vehicles from point A to point B with maximum efficiency, safety, and dependability.
To be certain we have the right equipment on the road and the right equipment in development for upcoming products, we work closely with equipment suppliers and customers to stay ahead of changing needs and make the most of emerging technologies.
Currently, there are two rigs that form the backbone of the AAG fleet. Quick Loaders, utilized primarily for short hauls, are easy to load and designed to maximize productivity in crowded urban environments. Line Haul, our designated long-haul workhorse, offers high capacity (up to 14 vehicles) and unusual load-configuration flexibility.
In addition, to answer the more unique transportation needs of customers, our fleet also includes a wide range of specialized equipment. Commercial Haul Rigs are configured to handle the growing number of larger commercial and sport utility vehicles. Quick Trip 5 is designed to smoothly operate and quickly load in the midst of heavy congestion common in major cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston or Atlanta. Enclosed Rigs were created to handle high-value cargo. These rigs keep vehicles in need of special handling or security in a fully-contained environment until delivery to the dealer. Lowboy Rigs are engineered to handle medium-duty truck and school bus chassis. These trucks can handle as many as seven units. And they offer a superior alternative to stack driving the units to the destination because the units arrive with zero miles and without exposure to possible damage.
The Right Technology
Providing accurate information at the moment it's needed i.e. real-time information is critical to us and to our customers. Collecting, organizing, and delivering that information requires front-line expertise and best-of-kind equipment in five areas.
Information Systems: AAG has developed its own information systems with the ability to receive, process and transmit transactions in all common interchange formats. Through direct interface with our computer system, customers using electronic data interchange (EDI) can exchange data from computer to computer. Information regarding billing, shipment status, cargo claims and load tendering can be instantly accessed. (To give you an idea of how essential this is, AAG handles over two million EDI transactions each week.)
Vehicle Inventory Management: Our system enables AAG and our customers to measure shipping and schedule performance from point of release to final delivery. Hand-held bar code scanners are used to transmit vehicle identification, status, and location information. This paper-reducing system also keeps track of rail loading statistics including track, position, railcar type, railcar number and vehicles loaded.
Performance Monitoring and Tracking: This system provides comprehensive reporting on vital information such as carrier performance, traffic volume analysis, and vehicle tracking and tracing.
Yard Management: Using radio frequency scanners and Mobile Data Terminals that incorporate hand-held and touch-screen computing, AAG closely monitors and coordinates the yard phase of the distribution process.
